One of the questions I get most often is whether a studio session or a lifestyle session at home works better. In this post I go through the pros and cons of both options, so you can decide what fits you and your family.
Studio sessions are a popular choice for many families. You get a controlled space, which helps a lot with small children or pets. The studio has professional lighting and backdrops, so there is room to try several different looks in one visit. A studio session also does not depend on the weather: you can shoot on a grey, rainy Barcelona afternoon and nobody will know.
A lifestyle session at home works the other way round: it is calmer and more everyday. That suits families who want natural photos in their own space. Home is where most people feel comfortable, and it shows — the photos come out looser and more real. If you want a more polished result, I recommend booking a family session with a photographer who knows when to press the shutter.
One of the main advantages of a studio session is control over the light and the background. That matters with small children or pets, because I can set up a safe, comfortable space for them before you arrive. A studio also works well if you want a more formal, polished look. If you would rather keep things casual and playful, I also offer family photo plans where everyone joins in without pressure.
