Babymoon Photoshoot Barcelona: Photographer or Self-Photo?

Short answer: Two professional formats. Pick by intent. With a photographer (Wonderstory, 290€, 1.5-2h): someone directs you, edits and delivers a curated gallery. Book 3-4 weeks ahead; studio or outdoor in Barcelona. Self-photo studio (YOULO, 60-100€): just the two of you, remote in hand, book the same day. You walk out with 200-400 raw photos within 24h. Both are at Ronda Universitat 33, 50 metres from Plaça Catalunya.
Why take photos during your babymoon in Barcelona?
Most couples planning a babymoon photoshoot in Barcelona arrive with everything sorted: hotel, dinner reservation, an outing on the calendar. The one thing missing when they land at El Prat? The photo you will want to find five years from now.
And the window is narrow. Between weeks 24 and 32 the bump is visible, the heaviness of the final weeks has not set in yet, and skin is at its best. After birth, that body never returns. That is why a babymoon in Barcelona ends up being, for many couples, the exact moment when stopping for a planned photo simply makes sense.
"It probably came from my own experience. When I was pregnant I did not have a photo session, and I regretted it a lot afterwards. My daughter asks me: 'And where is the photo where I am in your tummy?' That is when I realised how important it is to capture that moment." — Tami (Wonderstory)
If the doubt was whether to do it at all, that is my answer. If you are already in Barcelona, the ideal moment is now — not back home when everything cools down. And if you are worried about picking the exact best week, I wrote a separate piece on the best week for pregnancy photos that can help you decide.
The real question left is not whether to do it, but which format.

Session with a professional photographer (Wonderstory, 290€)
A session with a professional photographer is 1.5 to 2 hours with me at my studio in Eixample. I have been photographing pregnancies in Barcelona since 2019, with over a thousand sessions in this same building at Ronda Universitat 33, 50 metres from Plaça Catalunya.
How the session works
It starts before you set foot in the studio. I message you, we talk about the kind of images you have in mind, how you want to see yourselves, what outfits work for you, whether you prefer studio or shooting around the city. I also have maternity dresses available at the studio if you want to try something different — and on the booking page you will see what to expect from the session in detail.
On the day, I direct you: pose, angle, expression, pace. My job is to make you forget there is a camera in the room. What I deliver is not the raw material — it is a curated gallery, edited with a natural retouch. I want you to see yourself looking good and still recognise yourself. No strange filters, no plastic skin. The gallery arrives 2-3 weeks later.
As Nazaret says in her Google review:
"I was lucky to put myself in Tami's hands for my pregnancy photo session and I could not be happier with the result. From the very first moment she made me feel comfortable, cared for and special, and the same with my partner. She captured, with so much sensitivity, not only my body but also the emotion of that moment."
When to book
On practical timing: ideally you contact me between weeks 26 and 28 and shoot between weeks 29 and 33. In practice, book 3-4 weeks ahead — morning slots book up fastest. If you are arriving in Barcelona with less margin, check the maternity session page in case something is still open — sometimes it is.
This format fits if you want direction, an edited gallery ready to gift to the grandparents or print in an album, and you are comfortable being photographed by someone who has shot more than a thousand pregnancies.

Professional self-photo (YOULO, 60-100€)
A self-photo studio is a room with a professional camera, studio lighting and a built-in pre-set edit, where the couple controls the shutter with a remote. No photographer in the room. It is a professional product with the same gear quality as a directed session — only the script changes: you decide when the shutter fires, how you look at each other, what goes into the frame.
How the room works
It is at Ronda Universitat 33 — the same building as Wonderstory. You book online (often the same day), arrive, connect your music via Bluetooth, adjust the light if you feel like it. There is a mirror with the camera hidden behind it so you can see yourselves while you pose. Sessions run from 20 minutes (60€) to 60 minutes (100€). You walk out with 200 to 400 raw photos, pre-set edit applied, and the download link arrives within 24 hours — sometimes the same day.
You bring your own outfits (no dresses in this format), pick between colour and black-and-white filters, and download the whole session without a curated selection — you do that part yourselves at home.
"YOULO is a completely different project, but I really like it. Here the protagonist is not the photographer — it is the client: their attitude, the way they express themselves, the way they play. It does not replace a traditional session, but it offers a different way to experience it." — Tami (Wonderstory)
When it fits
This format fits if you want full privacy — just the two of you, no third person. If you would rather play than pose. If you need to book last-minute without aligning calendars three weeks out. And if you want a big batch of raw photos to sort through your own way. The shared experience of handling the camera together becomes part of the babymoon memory, not just a photo delivery.
To see it and lock a slot, book online now on the YOULO page.

Babymoon photoshoot Barcelona: photographer or self-photo?
Here is the decision. No hierarchy — two products for two different kinds of trips.
You want a session with a professional photographer (Wonderstory, 290€) if:
- You want direction — someone who decides poses, angles, expression and outfits for you
- You want a curated, edited memory, ready for an album or a gift to the grandparents
- You feel comfortable being photographed by someone experienced with pregnant bodies
- You have 1.5-2h of your weekend and 3-4 weeks of lead time to book
- You want outdoor photos (Park Güell, Barceloneta, El Born) or studio with creative direction
You want professional self-photo (YOULO, 60-100€) if:
- You want full privacy — only you and your partner in the room, no third person
- You feel more like experimenting and playing with your partner than posing for someone
- You want scheduling flexibility — book online the same day, no calendars to align
- You want to walk out with many raw photos (200-400) to pick and edit your own way
- You want the shared experience of handling the camera together as part of the memory
One bit of transparency worth saying: both formats are products of the same studio, in the same building (Ronda Universitat 33), under the same team. That is a logistical advantage when you are already in Barcelona and decide on Saturday morning — and it is also honesty. I will recommend the format that fits your trip best, whichever it is. I have no incentive to push you one way — I run both.
Barcelona outdoor locations with a photographer
If you go for a directed session and prefer to leave the studio, some spots work especially well for maternity photos. Park Güell is the most requested — but a practical detail to know: the entry ticket has to be bought for every person on the shoot, photographer included. Going at opening also keeps queues and tourist groups out of the frame.
Barceloneta between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning is another favourite. Low golden light, empty beach, no midday heat. Barcelona-specific: by 11:00 the sun is hard and the beach is full, and the difference between one hour and the next shows a lot in the photo.
El Born and Parc de la Ciutadella give you alleys, a fountain and a park. Fewer tourists than the Barri Gòtic and, more importantly, more walkable for someone pregnant — the ground is kinder than the slopes and cobblestones of the old quarter. For couples who want something less typical than Park Güell, Casa Vicens and the Bunkers del Carmel are two good alternatives: one is Gaudí's modernism from another angle, the other is a panoramic sunset view.
The best hour in Barcelona is usually 7:30-8:30 in the morning, or 18:30-19:30 depending on the month — specific to the city, not a generic rule. The Eixample studio is also there if you prefer to stay indoors. If you are torn between studio and outdoors, there is a full post with what a studio maternity session looks like that can help you decide.

How do you book each format?
For the professional session with Wonderstory, book 3-4 weeks ahead on the maternity session page. I message you, we sort the location together, you pay a deposit and the rest on the day.
For YOULO, book online directly on the self-photo studio page. Slots are often available the same day. Full payment at booking — you arrive, set up and shoot.
If you are not sure which one fits your trip, write to me and I will help you decide based on the dates and the plan you already have.
